Anna Eleanor Roosevelt was an American author, diplomat, political figure, and activist. She was born on October 11, 1884, in Manhattan, New York City. She was the longest-serving first lady of the United States, serving from 1933 to 1945 during her husband President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s four terms in office.
She proposed for:
- Expanded roles for women in the workplace
- The civil rights of African Americans and Asian Americans
- The rights of World War II refugees
During her career as a author she wrote 50 books, including My Day, The Autobiography of Eleanor Roosevelt, and You Learn by Living. Eleanor Roosevelt died on November 7, 1962 in New York City, New York, U.S. at the age of 78 from tuberculosis. Her resting place is in Springwood Estate, Hyde Park, New York, U.S.
